A forgotten community

For decades, the residents of these communities were confined to primary education, as there was no further basic education nearby. To continue their studies, children and young people had to walk more than an hour to another community that had a Cooperative Institute, where an enrollment fee and a monthly fee had to be paid, costs that very few families could cover with great effort.

This barrier often forced many young people to migrate to the U.S., seeking to support their families through work, as their educational opportunities at home were severely limited. Without the chance to continue their education, dreams of pursuing technical or professional careers were unattainable.

However, in 2020, a transformative change occurred thanks to the support of visionaries like you, the patrons of Café con Causa. Your contributions enabled the opening of the a Middle Scholl in the village of Guaisná, altering the educational landscape for these children.

Since the Middle School's inauguration, over 200 children have accessed basic education, laying the foundation for a brighter future. In 2024 alone, 69 eager young students embarked on their educational journey, thanks to your continued support.
